Description
The Inventory Control and Quality Manager oversees the Inventory Control Department, Inbound Department, and Quality requirements by providing structure and supervision to meet and exceed company and customer expectations of service. They will ensure that all transactions are closely monitored to meet company quality standards. This position monitors and analyzes inventory management processes and provides recommendations for process improvements while managing Supervisors, Leads, and Associates across the operation. The Inventory Control and Quality Manager serves as the escalation point for other department contacts, SEKO Corporate and customers and reports directly to the Distribution Center Manager. The Inventory and Quality Manager must have previous experience in inventory control, quality assurance and a minimum of 2 years of direct management
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all Inventory Control related tasks, including daily inventory transactions, to ensure that inventory in various warehouses is correct and available to allocate.
- Troubleshoots inventory issues, errors, etc.; provides updates to management and/or clients as necessary.
- Works with site personnel to develop efficient and reliable inventory management processes.
- Verifies goods in transit inventory, ensuring Inventory Control staff and Account Logistics Coordinators (ALCs) correctly attach parts to instances and shipments.
- Assesses the workload of personnel under supervision daily; establishes a plan to complete required daily transactions; temporarily re-assigns where the workload dictates.
- Ensures all direct reports (and indirect reports where applicable) have the most current training and tools to effectively and efficiently do their jobs.
- Assists in training of new employees; provides continuous feedback and coaching to assigned personnel regarding service quality as well as verbal and written interaction with clients and coworkers.
- Interacts with Operations, Warehouse, Sales, Network and Quality departments to troubleshoot customer problems; proactively intervenes to solve problems and implements process/procedure changes based on learnings.
- Isolates and identifies areas of improvement; recommends inventory management improvements and efficiencies; conducts performance and pricing analyses to support recommendations.
- Coordinates with Billing and Purchasing Departments to provide billing to assigned customers monthly and/or as needed.
- Completes periodic inventory reports as requested.
- Keeps abreast of new company products and services and communicates to team.
- Performs functions of all subordinate Inventory Control positions, providing coverage and support.
- Acts as primary escalation point for staff under supervision as well as key customers served; assists customers with routine questions about inventory.
- Owns the adherence of the facility to the Quality Program and ensures follow-through on ISO 13485 requirements.
- Facilitates continuous improvement initiatives both external and internal.
- Writes and reviews process documentation for all departments.
- Oversees and manages all inbound operations and the resources assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manages assigned direct personnel; provides required training and oversight; ensures goals are met.
- Ensures adequate staffing coverage for transactional compliance and to ensure necessary levels of production/business operations; ensures training is completed in a timely manner and kept up to date.
- Assists the DC Manager in the general management of labor and achievement of goals.

Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in a business, inventory, logistics or related field is preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an office environment with emphasis on customer service and support strongly desired; freight forwarding and/or transportation experience a plus.
- Five (5) years of previous supervisory experience, preferably in a freight forwarding, inventory, logistics or related industry.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing, to all levels.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook; proficiency with Access a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of Excel, including functions, pivot tables and macros.
- Prior experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Extensiv a plus.
- Ability to quickly learn new programs/software.
Physical Demands:
- Sitting for eight (8) hours or more per day; standing and/or walking two (2) hours or more per day.
- Eight (8) or more hours per day doing computer work.
- Ability to bend, reach and stoop.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with occasional warehouse environment to coordinate and supervise warehouse personnel.
